Two days at Walt Disney World – DAK + MK (day two)

After a fun-filled day at EPCOT the day before, Kevin and I were ready for our second (and last) day of our trip.  We planned to make the most of it and visit both Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and try out Trader Sam’s at the Polynesian Village Resort for the first time.

Magic Kingdom:

At around 7:40am, we took the hotel bus over to Magic Kingdom to catch our breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace.  I wrote a separate post on Crystal Palace, you can read about our experience here.  After breakfast, we met up with a good friend of ours who was also in the parks and rode the People Mover with him.  Our time at Magic Kingdom was short, but we came back later and spent the evening there.

Animal Kingdom:

We then went to Animal Kingdom, where we had fastpasses for the Kiliminjaro Safari, Expedition Everest, and Dinosaur.  I also wanted to make sure to ride Primeval Whirl, one of my favorite attractions in Animal Kingdom.

Kevin and I were still pretty full from our huge breakfast at Crystal Palace, but we grabbed some chicken fried rice from Yak and Yeti for a late lunch/snack.  This is one of my favorite quick service restaurants in Animal Kingdom because for only about $5, the chicken fried rice is a great deal, pretty filling, and is so delicious! This also counts as a snack credit for anyone on the Disney Dining Plan.

This Dole Whip with coconut rum, from Tamu Tamu Refreshments, was also a must while we were wandering around Animal Kingdom.

We really enjoyed walking around admiring the atmosphere of Animal Kingdom.

We used all of our fastpasses and even hopped on Expedition Everest a second time and rode Primeval Whirl all in just a few hours thanks to the low crowds.

Trader Sam’s:

Before heading back to Magic Kingdom, we decided to make a stop at the Polynesian to try out Trader Sam’s.  I had been wanting to try Trader Sam’s since it opened a little less than a year ago.  There is a really cool interactive bar inside, called the Grog Grotto, or an outdoor seating area called the Tiki Terrace.  We sat outside to enjoy the perfect February Florida “winter” weather and listen to the live music.  I ordered the Hippopoto Mai Tai and Kevin ordered the Tiki TIki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum.  Both were so so so delicious.  I kept eyeing Polynesian Pearl drink as well- definitely on my list for next visit!

Magic Kingdom:

After spending quite a while enjoying Trader Sam’s and the Polynesian, we took the monorail back to Magic Kingdom for the evening.

Kev became a Galactic Hero and wouldn’t stop rubbing it in….

Of course we made sure we had a good spot to watch Wishes Nighttime Spectacular (which officially ends on May 11, 2017 to be replaced with a new nighttime show, “Happily Ever After”).

I am hoping for the chance to see Wishes another time before it’s replaced with the new nighttime show, but I am very thankful Kevin and I got to see it several times together over the last two years.  Our trip was short but we had an amazing time and we’ll hopefully be back real soon!
