Here’s a look into our day trip to EPCOT for the Flower and Garden Festival. We had two days off from work and decided to fly down to Orlando for a day of Disney fun!
We took the first flight in the morning out of Philadelphia, PA to Orlando, FL.
We landed in Orlando by 9:30am, rented a car, and made it to the gates of EPCOT by 11:00 and had the entire day to spend at the festival!
Our first food stop of the day was to the Pineapple Promenade to try the famous Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade. We also got the Pineapple Soft-serve with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum and Kevin wanted to try the Spicy Hot Dog, which was served with pineapple chutney and plantain chips. The hot dog didn’t look very appetizing, unlike most of the pretty dishes here, but Kevin insisted it was delicious.
Picked up this year’s Flower and Garden Dooney & Bourke. Couldn’t resist Figment (and the colors and pattern of this year’s design- so in love). The sweetest Cast Member in Mouse Gear helped us find one from the back of the store with the perfect pattern placement so Figment was front and center!
We hadn’t eaten much up until this point of the day because we spent the whole plane ride down planning which food we wanted to try from the outdoor festival kitchens – which was pretty much everything!
Mexico:
We stopped at Jardin De Fiestas outdoor kitchen for the Chile Rellano de Picadillo.
Norway:
China:
Spicy Chicken Lettuce Wrap and Beijing-style Candied Strawberries from the Lotus House.
African Outpost:
Germany:
Italy:
Antipasto Misto from the Primavera Kitchen.
The American Adventure:
We were very excited about the The Smokehouse Barbecue and Brews menu. We tried the Beef Brisket Burnt Ends Hash and the Frozen Lemonade with Firefly Blackberry Moonshine…yum!
Japan:
We were also so excited for Frushi from the Hanami kitchen in Japan and we LOVED it! For those who aren’t familiar with Frushi, it’s sliced fresh pineapple, strawberry, and melon rolled with raspberry-coconut rice with toasted coconut and whipped cream.
France:
In France, we got the Macaron Chocolat Framboise and the fan-favorite La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush.
We didn’t explore too much of the United Kingdom or Canada pavilions this trip, but if we make it down again before Flower and Garden ends, we will try something from the outdoor kitchens in those pavilions.
As we were eating our way through World Showcase, we also did the egg hunt, EGG-stravaganza. It was a lot of fun searching the pavilions for character eggs and we got these cute little egg prizes for participating!
After flying back to Philadelphia the next morning, we redeemed a voucher we had for the first class lounge that we had been meaning to use for months. We spent several hours enjoying the amenities of the lounge – food, drinks, and runway views (right up our alley)! It was an incredible end to our perfect little trip!
We are so fortunate to have jobs which allow us to travel often and make day trips, like this one, possible. We are so thankful! Thanks for stopping by!
